  • 100% COTTON PAPER – The ultimate paper surface for watercolor, gouache and mixed media. Cold press watercolor paper has a little texture and is great for accentuating granulation and controlling water. The paper is 230gsm (~110 lb) and is also acid-free meaning it won’t yellow over time.
  • MADE FOR ARTISTS – The little details matter. Our Sketchbooks employ a lay-flat binding technique, and consistent paper grain direction to ensure that artists can easily control washes and paint “across-the-fold” in Landscape format.

Why Settle for Less

Etchr use only 100% cotton, acid free paper in all our sketchbooks. Cotton is the best surface for watercolour and it is also great for mixed media. This paper can take multiple heavy washes, stands up well to damaging techniques like dry brushing, and helps keep the pigment looking vibrant over the passage of time.

Not Your Average Sketchbooks

Our sketchbooks are purpose built for wet media. We use lay-flat binding techniques and ensure a consistent paper grain direction is used throughout each sketchbook. This attention to detail gives greater control to the artist using mediums like watercolor and gouache.

Created Without Compromise

Our sketchbook range was developed in collaboration with Singaporean artist Erwin Lian. As a professional artist and teacher, Erwin understood the benefits of using 100% cotton paper but was frustrated with the lack of sketchbook options. Erwin created his “Perfect Sketchbook” with the support of the artist community.

Cold Press (230g)

Cold press paper has a slightly textured finish, or more "tooth". Great for those looking to accentuate pigment granulation. The tooth also makes water a little easier to control and hence it is often also recommended as a good place to start for beginners.

Hot Press (220g)

Hot press paper has a slightly smoother finish which is great for crisp and detailed pieces. It is particularly favoured when using pen or pencils in conjunction with wet media. Despite having a smoother surface, the cotton content of this paper makes water easily controllable.
